Abstract:
The process-intensifying potential of a rotor-stator spinning disc reactor (RSSDR) was investigated by means of studying the heat transfer via an experimental and a numerical approach, and carrying out epoxidation of methyl oleate, a very exothermic and mass transfer limited reaction. A significant intensification of the heat transfer and the epoxidation by the use of an RSSDR was observed revealing its potential as a suitable reactor technology for mass and heat transfer limited reactions.
