The 6min walking test, standardized and conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the American Thoracic Society (ATS), is a safely feasible, valid, and reliable test method of functional performance. The present study examines to which extent a modified version of the 6min walking test can be used as a valid test method for the self-testing of individual performance. In this case, the modified version could replace the previously used standard 6min walking test, as a method of training management and outcome evaluation of a moderate dose training program as part of the Individual Health Management (IGM).
