Electric vehicles enable mobility without crude oil. But they struggle with a low range. The efficiency and with that the range of a vehicle is increased by an intelligent dimensioning of the drive train topology. For that reason a vehicle model with scalable components and an optimization method were developed, to find the most efficient drive train topology for an electric vehicle. The optimal result shows the energy consumption and the drive train topology of the vehicle as well as the drive train components together with their energetic characteristics.
