In dieser Arbeit wurden Neuroblastom- und Mammakarzinomzelllinien in vitro und in vivo mit unterschiedlichen Konzentrationen an Dichloracetat (DCA) und R-(+)-alpha-Liponsäure (LPA) – Substanzen, welche einen Einfluß auf die Pyruvatdehydrogenase haben - behandelt. DCA hatte kaum Einfluß auf Verdopplungszeit, Proliferation, Stoffwechsel, 18F-FDG-Uptake, Zellzyklus, Apoptose, Vitalität und führte in vivo zu verstärktem Tumorwachstum. LPA dagegen reduzierte sowohl in vitro als auch in mit SkBr3 Zellen inokulierten NMRI nu/nu Mäusen Proliferation, Tumorstoffwechsel (18F-FDG) und Wachstum.
