Abstract:
Peroxisomes are organelles present in all eukaryotic cells, facilitating reactions that require oxidizing conditions. In this study biophysical methods and NMR-spectroscopy was used to study novel protein complexes involved in peroxisome biogenesis. Structure-based drug discovery was employed to develop antiparasitic drugs targeting a peroxisomal protein in trypansoma.

Peroxisomen sind Organellen die oxidative Reaktionen in eukaryontischen Zellen ermöglichen. In dieser Arbeit wurden mittels biophysikalischer Methoden und NMR-Spektroskopie neue Proteinkomplexe in der Peroxisomenbiogenese untersucht. Durch strukturbasierte Wirkstoffforschung wurden antiparasitische Inhibitoren eines peroxisomalen Proteins in Trypanosoma entwickelt.
