Based on non-targeted Metabolomics analysis using UPLC-MS and ICR/FT-MS, an overview of metabolite permutations and biomarker candidates in C. pneumoniae infection of human cells could be defined. Effects of the pathogen on the lipid homeostasis are investigated in C. trachomatis infections. A modulated glycerophospholipid content is evidenced, including the identification of bacterial synthesized plasmalogens. The developed analytical and data analysis strategy is presented, as well as the biological results.
