Enterprise 2.0 platforms are increasingly being used as lightweight repositories that allow users to collaboratively manage information. However, due to the free-form nature of the content managed on these platforms (e.g., wiki pages), efficient information retrieval becomes challenging with a growing number of users. Hybrid Wikis empower business users to incrementally structure and classify content using attributes, types, and constraints. This way, users can access content like an object-oriented database. The novelty of Hybrid Wikis is shown by a comparison with 28 related research works and an analysis of nine prominent Enterprise 2.0 vendor solutions. We validate Hybrid Wikis by means of six case studies and a controlled laboratory experiment.
