The emphasis of this thesis is on developing an active vibration reduction system for vibration control of convertible vehicles. At first the factors of influence, which are the most important cause of discomfort in convertible vehicles compared to closed vehicles, are identified and analysed. Based on these results this thesis compares different control strategies as well as actuator concepts for the mechatronic or rather the adaptronic system, develops them for the application in a convertible vehicle and studies their applicability using appropriate simulation methodologies. Besides the necessary theory, practical implementations as well as the verification of the simulation results are shown by means of investigations on a test stand and with the help of driving tests with a prototype on an uneven road.
