The study presents methods for the development process of medical simulators by the example of obstetrics. Thus, a process model for creating a database is introduced, which contains medical expert knowledge and makes it technically utilisable. Additionally decision-making processes, which lead to the development of a requirement considering system-architecture, and modeling technologies for biomechanics and bioregulation are described. A new form of hybrid modeling using patterns is introduced, which improves realism and guarantees numerical stability compared to known technologies. The presented 2-layer haptics ensures close-to-reality haptic impressions for Windows-based simulations. A concluding didactical evaluation underlines the positive influences of simulators developed on the basis of the presented methods on medical education.
