Am Beispiel des Israelitischen Friedhofs in Breslau, Lohestraße, veranschaulicht diese Arbeit die architektonische Umsetzung des Paradigmenwechsels von Liturgie und Begräbniskult im 19./ 20. Jh. Torbau und 13 analysierte Grabmäler weisen bewußt gewählte maurische wie altägyptische, orientalisierende Formen auf - ein paneuropäisch ästhetisches wie ideologisches Phänomen.
Auf dem Weg zu einer neuen jüdischen Identität kann dieser Friedhof als zukunftsorientierte Konzeption gewertet werden.

The Oriental elements in the sepulchral architecture of the cemetery in Lohe St., Breslau are visible in the entrance gate and 13 analyzed tombstones. It expresses rather an overall Jewish developmental process, than the taste of individuals. Orientalism in Jewish architecture of the 19th/ 20th centuries was an expression of paradigm change in liturgy and burial customs, due to the freedom of the Jewish spirit from the straits of orthodoxy and the stigma of the pre- Enlightenment society.
