Abstract:
The study deals with oak coppice stands in the chinese province of Shaanxi. In addition to a scientific investigation of the potential of wood production and stand regeneration a socio-economic survey concerning the people’s use of local forests was made. On the basis of the scientific findings recommendations for an improved sustainable management of the oak coppice stands are given.

Die vorliegende Studie befasst sich mit den Eichenniederwäldern in der chinesischen Provinz Shaanxi. Neben einer waldbaulichen Untersuchung der Potentiale zur Holzproduktion wurden Befragungen der lokalen Bevölkerung zur aktuellen Nutzung des Niederwaldes durchgeführt. Auf der Grundlage der gewonnenen Erkenntnisse werden Empfehlungen für eine verbesserte nachhaltige Bewirtschaftung des Eichenniederwaldes gegeben.
