For the economical supply of solar process heat at temperatures between 120-150 °C a new non-tracking, low-concentrating, vacuum flat collector has been developed. Industrialised nations have a huge demand for industrial process heat in this temperature range. Furthermore efficient utilization of solar heat for seawater desalination or solar cooling with double-stage absorption chillers is possible.
With regard to a high energy gain, investigations have been carried out into the possibilities of heat loss minimisation by concentration of solar radiation, pressure drop and inert gas filling. The results were used during the construction of a prototype. Measurements verified the suitability of the collector and the possibility of solar process heat supply at efficiencies over 50 % and serve as a basis for a realisation of an industrial version of the prototype.
