In this social empirical analysis of qualitative expert interviews with employees of heterogeneous residential groups of the Franziskuswerk Schönbrunn the questions are led on; how important the utilization of forests is in the handicapped aid there and which barriers prevent the educational use of forests. In addition to a brief overview of the current state of research on forest and health, the focus of this study is on the qualitative presentation of the results of the surveys. For data collection, processing and analysis, methods of qualitative social research were applied. The majority of the results can also be confirmed with scientific research results. Consulted employees of the Franziskuswerk are aware of the positive, healthy and relaxing effects of the forest on people with disabilities. The forest still plays a secondary role in everyday working life in the aid for the disabled of the Franziskuswerk. Suitable forests for people with disabilities are, according to consulted employees, diverse and mixed forests that offer variety and relaxation for disabled people. As obstruction of the forest use are called by the consulted employees the lack of staff and time as well as physical barriers. In order to be able to use the forests increasingly in everyday working life in disability aid, the employees of the Franziskuswerk require personal support and information about the regional forests. Barriers that make it difficult for disabled people to access the forest as a natural area must also be dissolved, according to the experts, for the increased use of forests in handicapped aid. To give people with disabilities the opportunity to experience nature is an important contribution to inclusion.      «
