Due to increasing complexity, companies are demanding greater responsiveness for their production system. One approach is decentralized control through resources and products. So-called autonoum control systems are based on the consecutive technologies; identification, localization and communication. This thesis develops an alternative attribute-based identification system in combination with an agent system as the basis of a autonoum control system and a methodology consisting of four building blocks outlines when these systems offer added value and how they can be planned.
