This thesis compares computertomography to magnetic resonance imaging in the staging of rectal cancer. It includes the data of CT- and MRI- examinations before and after neoadjuvant radiochemotherapy of 102 patient with rectal cancer. The statistic evaluation shows a significant difference between MRI and CT in favour of MRI in the decision on local tumor spread. In the evaluation of involved lymph nodes there was no significant difference between MRI and CT.
