- Abstract:
- The different functionalizations of the naturally occurring mucin glycoproteins shown in this thesis aim at creating modified biomacromolecules for novel applications in medicine. Owing to their excellent biocompatibility, biodegradability and mechanical stability, mucins are attractive candidates for coatings or as carriers for pharmaceuticals.

- Die in dieser Arbeit gezeigten unterschiedlichen Funktionalisierungen der natürlich vorkommenden Muzin-Glykoproteine zielen darauf ab, modifizierte Biomakromoleküle für neue Anwendungen in der Medizin zu schaffen. Aufgrund ihrer hervorragenden Biokompatibilität, biologischen Abbaubarkeit und mechanischen Stabilität sind Muzine attraktive Kandidaten für Beschichtungen oder als Träger für Arzneimittel.
