The most frequent complications included wound healing disorders, re-bleeding, and Cerebrospinal fluid (CFS) leakage. Significant risk factor for postoperative complications are age-adjusted Charlson Comorbidity Index, metastatic tumour, and atrial fibrillation. Additionally, postoperative Karnofsky Performance Status, postoperative anaemia, length of hospital stay, and duration of surgery were identified as associated factors. In addition to the risk analysis, the quality of life of the operated patients was examined. It was shown how this changes over time (before the operation and 3- and 12 months afterwards). It could be shown that the majority of the existing patient population could benefit from an operative treatment and thus the quality of life could be increased.     «
