- Abstract:
- In utero exposures to environmental factors, including infectious agents, modify the fetomaternal crosstalk and lead to immune disorders later in life. Based on analyses of placental gene expression, circulating immune cells and soluble factors like antibodies and hormones, our study reveals distinct geographical and helminth infection related risks for placental inflammation and unveils a potential role for Vitamin D in the complex immunological landscape which evolves during pregnancy.

- Die Exposition in utero gegenüber Umweltfaktoren, einschließlich Infektionserreger, verändern die fetomaternale Kommunikation und führen später zu Immunstörungen. Analysen plazentarer Genexpressionen, zirkulierender Immunzellen und löslicher Faktoren wie Antikörper und Hormone zeigen eindeutige geographische und Helminthen-infektionsbedingte Risiken für plazentare Inflammation und enthüllen eine mögliche Rolle von Vitamin D in der komplexen immunologischen Landschaft während der Schwangerschaft.
