- The mortality of the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is about 40% to date. Therapy escalation by extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is useful in subgroups, but complex and has many side effects. Our study examined when and by which parameter the 28d mortality in ARDS is best predicted.
