- It was the aim of our randomized controlled trial to compare the outcome of patients with hepatorenal syndrome (HRS) treated according to a pre-defined algorithm based on transpulmonary thermodilution (TPTD) to standard treatment. The study showed that goal-directed therapy based on TPTD-guided substitution of albumin and crystalloids could improve the short-term outcome of patients with HRS.
