Abstract:
Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and calcium phosphate (Ca-P) cements are widely used for arthroplasty surgery and augmentation of bone defects. However, aseptic implant loosening in absence of wear-induced osteolysis indicates an unfavourable interaction between the cement surface and human osteoblasts.
