The initial objective of this work was the study of phenyl and methyl alkali silanolates regarding their applicability as possible new high-temperature heat transfer fluids based on silicon for their use in solar thermal parabolic trough power plants. Since the potential of the investigated substances was not sufficient for application as heat transfer fluid, the focus of this work changed to branched methylsiloxanes. In the further course, a promising compound as new heat transfer fluid was found.
