Abstract:
This work shows that TGFβ signaling is required for Twist1-induced EMT in immortalized human mammary cells. More precisely, in absence of TGFβ signaling, Twist1 fails to promote mesenchymal transdifferentiation, but instead gives rise to a cell population, which is able to collectively invade and proliferate in a 3D environment. By contrast, TGFβ is not required for the maintenance of the mesenchymal phenotype in breast cancer cell lines.

Diese Arbeit zeigt, dass TGFβ Signalwege für Twist1-induzierte EMT in immortalisierten humanen Brustzellen erforderlich sind. Genauer gesagt, in Abwesenheit von TGFβ, kann Twist1 keine mesenchymale Transdifferenzierung antreiben, aber induziert stattdessen Invasion und Proliferation in einer 3D Umgebung. Im Gegensatz dazu, sind TGFβ Signalwege für die Aufrechterhaltung der EMT nicht zwingend erforderlich.
