Abstract:
Der Catechol-O-Methyltransferase (COMT)-Einzelnukleotidpolymorphismus (SNP) Val158Met führt zu einer deutlich reduzierten Enzymaktivität und einem damit einhergehenden Anstieg der Serumkatecholaminkonzentration. In einem Kollektiv von 1741 Patienten nach Operationen unter extrakorporaler Zirkulation zeigte sich beim vermuteten homozygoten Risikogenotyp kein erhöhtes Risiko für das Auftreten eines postoperativen Nierenversagen im Vergleich zum Wildtypgenotyp.

The catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) Val158Met leads to reduced enzyme activity and is linked with a concomitant increase of catecholamine levels in serum. However, in a collective of 1741 patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass operation, homozygous carriers of this supposed high-risk genotype did not have an increased risk for postoperative kidney failure compared to patients with wild-type genotype.
