In my thesis I investigated the function and regulation of FOXP2, a highly conserved transcription factor involved in speech development and cancer. Thereby I found novel interaction partners and regulatory elements affecting the transcriptional activity and thus the function of FOXP2. My findings give new insights in the complex interaction network and regulation of FOXP2 and help to understand the mechanisms behind cancer development.

In meiner Arbeit untersuchte ich die Funktion und Regulation von FOXP2, einem hochkonserviertem Transkriptionsfaktor, welcher in Sprachentwicklung und Krebs involviert ist. Dabei entdeckte ich neue Interaktionspartner und regulatorische Elemente, welche die transkriptionelle Aktivität und somit die Funktion von FOXP2 beeinflussen. Meine Ergebnisse geben einen neuen Einblick in das komplexe Interaktions-Netzwerk und Regulation von FOXP2 und helfen die Mechanismen der Krebsentstehung zu verstehen.
