Within the scope of this paper the health and sensoric quality of the food offer in Munich day-care centers were evaluated. For this purpose the staff of the day-care centers and the parents took part in written surveys. In addition to it menus were analyzed. Based on these findings a certification system was developed as a computer based, online available self audit system. For this system quality standards for the health and sensoric quality were designed, which are to be achieved and complied with. This allows day-care centers to evaluate their food offer themselves and gain a certification on their menu if applicable. Otherwise practical recommendations are given to improve their food offer.
