In the present thesis we investigated the function of mig-6 and its relation to the HER receptors in melanoma development and progression as well as hepatocyte proliferation in vivo. Here we could show that HER3 serves as a novel marker for the prognosis of melanoma. In addition, we could show that HER3 is essential for the proliferation, migration and invasion of human melanoma cells. In contrast, mig-6 seems to be a tumor suppressor of melanomagenesis. Furthermore, we characterized mig-6 as a negative regulator of the EGFR in hepatocytes and in liver carcinomas.     «

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wurde die Funktion von mig-6 und dessen Einfluss auf die HER Rezeptoren sowohl in der Entstehung und der Progression von humanen Melanomen als auch im Wachstum von Hepatozyten in vivo untersucht. Dabei konnte HER3 als neuer Marker für die Prognose von Melanomen postuliert werden. Zusätzlich konnte gezeigt werden, dass HER3 essentiell für die Proliferation, Migration und Invasion von humanen Melanomzellen ist. Im Gegensatz dazu scheint mig-6 ein Tumorsuppressor der Melanomagenese zu sein. Des Weiteren konnte mig-6 als Negativ-Regulator des EGF Rezeptors in Hepatozyten als auch in Leberkarzinomen charakterisiert werden.      «
