In einer prospektiven Studie wurde die Lebensqualität innerhalb des ersten Jahres nach radikaler Prostatektomie, der Einfluss des Diagnosealters und der Schulbildung evaluiert. 114 Patienten mit lokalisiertem Prostatakarzinom wurden präoperativ und bis zu 12 Monate postoperativ mit insgesamt 17 Fragebögen zu folgenden Themen befragt: Angst vor erneutem Tumorwachstum und Komplikationen als Folge der OP, Glücksempfinden, allgemeine körperliche Belastbarkeit, Konzentrationsfähigkeit und Sorge um andauernde Inkontinenz. Zusätzlich war der SF-12 enthalten. Die Lebensqualität wird durch die OP nur geringfügig beeinflusst, was künftig im Aufklärungsgespräch erwähnt werden sollte. Jüngere Patienten und Patienten mit höherer Schulbildung weisen tendenziell eine höhere Lebensqualität auf.     «

In a prospective study quality of life during the first year after radical prostatectomy, influence of age at diagnosis and education was evaluated. 114 patients with localized prostate carcinoma were questioned preoperatively and within 12 months postoperatively with 17 questionnaires about following topics: anxiety over tumor progression and complications due to surgery, happiness, physical capability, ability to concentrate and concern about ongoing incontinence. The SF-12 was also included. Quality of life is only marginally compromised by radical prostatectomy, this should be mentioned to patients preoperatively. Younger patients and patients with higher education tend to show higher quality of life.      «
