Ziel ist die Entwicklung von Zahnimplantaten, die eine dem natürlichen Zahn analoge Verwachsung des Zahnfleisches mit dem Implantat ermöglichen. Die Hauptursache für den Verlust zahnärztlicher Implantate besteht in bakteriell verursachten Entzündungen. Das periimplantäre Weichgewebe stellt dabei lediglich eine abwehrschwache Narbe dar, während an der natürlichen Zahnoberfläche eine gefäßreiche und damit abwehrstarke Verwachsung mit dem Zahnfleisch existiert. Daher wurden in den zervikalen Implantatkörper mittels Excimer-Laser Poren gebohrt, in welche Blutgefäße und Kollagenfasern in Analogie zur natürlichen Situation einwachsen können, so dass die Lebensdauer von Implantaten vermutlich verlängert wird.      «

The aim of the study was to mimic natural tooth attachment in patients receiving dental implants. The most common reason for loss of dental implants is bacterial infection. The peri-implant soft tissue produces an immunocompromised scar whereas the natural tooth attachment is vascularised and is strongly connected to the gums. By using an excimer laser to drill pores into the implant body to encourage blood vessels and collagen fibres to form it is a method by which the life of dental implants can be extended.      «
