Zur Erfassung der schmerzmodulierenden Effekte der Akupunktur wurde eine experimentelle Untersuchung mit dem bildgebenen Verfahren der funktionellen Kernspintomographie durchgeführt. In vorliegender Studie wurden einfach verblindet, pseudorandomisiert und placebokontrolliert (Verum vs. Sham-Elektroakupunktur) 16 akupunkturnaive, männliche, gesunde Probanden untersucht. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass nur die Verumakupunktur zur Reduktion des Erlebens eines experimentellen Schmerzreizes führt. Die Analyse der Hirnaktivierungen ergab, dass dieser Effekt über eine spezifische Aktivierung von Hirnregionen erzielt wird, von denen eine zentrale, antinozizeptive Kontrolle auf afferente Schmerzreize bekannt ist.     «

To detect the pain modulating effects of acupuncture an experimental study was performed with the functional magnetic resonance imaging. 16 acupuncture-naive male healthy volunteers took part in this pseudorandomized, single blinded and placebo-controlled (Verum- vs. Sham-Electroacupuncture) study. The results show that only Verum-Electroacupuncture reduces the perception of an experimental painful heat stimulus. The analysis of the brain activations show that this effect is obtained by a specific activation of brain areas which are involved in the central antinociceptive control of afferent pain stimuli.     «
