- Abstract:
- This dissertation is concerned about the role of tradition and innovation among European agricultural products protected by the geographical indications (GIs). The two key elements are questioned to examine possible short- and long-term effects on sustainability. Findings are based on a literature analysis and qualitative case studies, and presented through a joint introduction of the GI concept as well as a critical discussion.

- Diese Dissertation befasst sich mit der Rolle von Tradition und Innovation bei europäischen Agrarprodukten, welche durch geografische Herkunftsangaben (GI) geschützt sind. Die beiden Elemente stehen im Fokus, um mögliche kurz- und langfristige Auswirkungen auf die Nachhaltigkeit zu identifizieren. Die auf einer Literaturstudie und mehreren qualitativen Fallstudien basierenden Ergebnisse werden durch eine gemeinsame Einführung des GI-Konzepts, sowie einer kritischen Diskussion begleitet.
