- Die Sepsis ist auf Grund der Morbidität und hohen Mortalität von enormer globaler Bedeutung. Die retrospektive Arbeit untersucht den Stellenwert der transösophagealen Echokardiographie bei der Identifikation einer infektiösen Endokarditis (IE) bei PatientInnen mit unklarem Sepsisfokus. Das untersuchte Kollektiv setzt sich aus PatientInnen der medizinischen Intensivstation (II. med. Klinik, Klinikum rechts der Isar) ohne Hochrisikoprofil für eine IE zusammen.

- Sepsis is a disease of global interest as it has a high morbidity and mortality. The retrospective study examines the role of transesophageal echocardiography in the identification of an infectious endocarditis (IE) in patients with a sepsis of unknown focus without high-risk factors for IE. All patients attended the medical intensive care unit at the university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar in Munich.
