Abstract:
This dissertation scrutinizes co-creation as an approach to innovation governance from a Science and Technology Studies (STS) perspective. By means of discourse analysis at EU level and participant observation at a German municipality, it shows how co-creation evokes many aspects of earlier forms of public engagement, however, in an economic guise that foregrounds economic over social benefit, and alleged opportunities to participate over equitable and socially just inclusion.
