Abstract:
This work focused on the development of decarboxylases and dehydratases as valuable biocatalysts. By combination of several strategies, thermostability of two decarboxylases were increased significantly (>10 °C). Application of sequence-based discovery identified two new classes of [Fe-S]-dependent dehydratases, key enzymes in the biotransformation of chemicals. The final study characterized in detail L- and D-2-keto-3-deoxypentonate dehydratases, important enzymes in the Weimberg pathways.
