Analysing the Concept of Value to Identify Relevant Stakeholders' Preferences in Design for Adaptability

The preferences of stakeholders susceptible to change are the source to determine future value and should therefore be given special attention in terms of designing systems for adaptability. But value is a subjective term, whose meaning and quantification have been extensively discussed in literature and no consensus has been reached. This paper presents a structured description and characterization of value. It lays out a taxonomy of different dimensions to support a systematic value assessment in technical systems and increase the understanding of the benefits and outreach of adaptability.     «
