Architekturtheoretische Positionen zur Konstruktion und zum Konstruieren sowie deren Entwicklung zwischen 1950 und 2010 werden in ihrem jeweiligen Kontext unter vier Gesichtspunkten untersucht. Analysiert wird der Stellenwert der Konstruktion in der Architektur und dessen Entwicklung, weiterhin die konkrete Tätigkeit des Konstruierens und inwieweit dies eine eher wissenschaftliche oder eher künstlerische Tätigkeit ist, sowie abschließend Positionen zu Ausdruck und Erscheinungsform der Konstruktion im Bauwerk. Aufbauend auf der systematischen Untersuchung über architekturtheoretische Standpunkte zur Konstruktion werden zum Teil große Gemeinsamkeiten, teilweise gemeinsame Entwicklungen aber auch Differenzen hinsichtlich der einzelnen Fragen festgestellt.     «

Theoretical positions about construction, structure and structural design, written by architects, engineers or historians within the last six decades, are studied in their context under four aspects on basis of key statements. The thesis investigates the evolution of the significance of structure in architecture and the specific activity of structural design. Furthermore it discusses the scientific or artistic nature of this activity. Finally, positions about expression and manifestation of structure in completed buildings are analysed. Based upon a systematic research on theoretical writings on structure and structural design, common views, some common trends but also differences regarding the quoted questions are established.      «
