The identification of market opportunities has lasting impact on emerging technology firms. Departing from the individual focused examinations in extant research, this thesis establishes a novel perspective on teams as entrepreneurial actors. The empirical findings reveal that both general and specific human capital resources of co-founders shape the number of alternative opportunities explored; yet the extent to which the collective resources are able to produce market opportunities depends on the entrepreneurial team identity. Implications for research on entrepreneurial opportunities and human capital are discussed.      «

Die Identifizierung alternativer Marktchancen hat eine wichtige Bedeutung für junge Technologieunternehmen. Im Unterschied zu bestehender Forschung, welche sich bisher auf individuelle Akteure fokussiert hat, entwickelt diese Dissertation eine neue Perspektive auf Teams als unternehmerische Akteure. Die empirischen Ergebnisse zeigen, dass sowohl generelle als auch spezifische Humankapitalressourcen von Gründerteams die Anzahl marktorientierter Geschäftsideen treiben; jedoch wird die Effektivität des Humankapitals bei der Erkundung von Marktchancen von der Teamidentität beeinflusst. Die Studie leistet einen Beitrag zur Forschung im Bereich Entrepreneurship.      «
