The main focus of this work was to unravel the functional role of collagen type V, which is mainly produced by pancreatic stellate cells, in the epithelial-stromal interaction in pancreatic cancer. To this aim, different in vitro and in vivo approaches were used to investigate the influence of collagen type V and of its downstream signaling pathway on pancreatic cancer cells as well as on endothelial and stromal cells. It could be shown that collagen type V promotes the aggressive phenotype of pancreatic cancer, starting from the early phases of pancreatic carcinogenesis until the metastatic disease.     «

Der Hauptfokus dieser Arbeit war die Aufklärung der funktionellen Rolle von Kollagen Typ V, welches hauptsächlich von pankreatischen Stellatumzellen produziert wird, in der epithelial-stromalen Interaktion des Pankreaskarzinoms. Hierzu wurden verschiedene in vitro und in vivo Ansätze verfolgt, um den Einfluss von Kollagen Typ V und des zugehörigen Signalweges auf Pankreaskarzinomzellen, sowie auf endotheliale und stromale Zellen, zu untersuchen. Es konnte gezeigt werden, dass Kollagen Typ V den aggressiven Phänotyp des Pankreaskarzinoms fördert, beginnend in frühen Phasen der Karzinogenese bis hin zur metastatischen Krankheit.     «
