Section 8.3 focuses on the relatively small no. of existing expts. on size-selected, supported cluster consisting only of a few to a couple of tens of atoms. Some of these expts. are chosen to illustrate specifically the possibilities and challenges in this rather young but highly exciting field in cluster science. As far as possible, recent developments in the theor. understanding of well defined catalysts and the resulting implications for the development of real industrial catalysts will also be addressed.
