- Kinder mit Erstmanifestation entzündlich-demyelinisierender ZNS-Erkankungen (Akute disseminierte Enzephalomyelitis (ADEM), Klinisch isoliertes Syndrom (CIS)) sowie gesunde und neurologische Kontrollen wurden auf das Vorkommen von Serum-Antikörpern gegen die nativen ZNS-Proteine Myelin Oligodendrozyten Glykoprotein (MOG), Proteolipid Protein (PLP) und Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) sowie die Herpesviren EBV, HHV-6 und HCMV untersucht. Eine Subgruppe der Kinder mit ADEM und CIS zeigte eine spezifische IgG-Antikörperantwort gegen natives MOG, die Antikörper hatten zudem in vitro zytotoxische Effekte auf MOG-exprimierende Zellen. IgM-Antikörper gegen MOG waren nur bei einigen Patienten mit ADEM nachweisbar. Bei Kindern mit CIS zeigten sich gegenüber Kontrollen höhere IgG-Antikörpertiter gegen EBV und HCMV, die nicht mit der Antikörperantwort gegenüber MOG korrelierten.

- In children with a first clinical event of inflammatory demyelinating CNS disease (acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), clinically isolated syndrome (CIS)) as well as healthy and neurological controls, the occurrence of serum antibodies to the native CNS proteins myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG), proteolipid protein (PLP) and aquaporin-4 (AQP4) as well as the herpesviruses EBV, HHV-6 and HCMV was investigated. In a subgroup of children with ADEM and CIS, a specific IgG antibody response towards native MOG was detected. Moreover, these antibodies induced in vitro cytotoxicity of MOG expressing cells. IgM antibodies against MOG were only detected in some ADEM patients. Children with CIS showed elevated IgG antibody titers against EBV and HCMV which were not related to the antibody response against MOG.
