Der steigende Wettbewerbsdruck, dem die klassischen Retailbanken durch die sinkenden Zinsspannen und durch den vermehrten Eintritt der Direktbanken gegenüberstehen, führt zur Notwendigkeit, die Prozessabläufe und somit die Kostenseite bei Kreditinstituten neu zu gestalten. Eine Optimierung der Kostensituation durch die Anwendung eines industriellen Prozessreengineerings im Produktionsbereich der Retailbanken ist dabei der Schlüssel zum Erfolg. Die Hauptproblematiken, die innerhalb der Prozessabläufe bei Kreditinstituten identifiziert wurden, sind die mangelnde Prozessstandardisierung, die Prozessinstabilität, die hohe Prozessdauer sowie die suboptimale Prozessunterstützung durch die IT. Die in der Literatur beschriebenen Vorgehensweisen des Prozess- und Qualitätsmanagements wurden primär für Industrieunternehmen erstellt. Aus diesem Grund werden die Vorgehensweisen an die Bedürfnisse der Kreditinstitute angepasst und auf sie übertragen.     «

The increasing market pressure for retail banks caused by direct banks entering the market and a decreasing interest margin lead to a necessity to restructure the business processes at banks in order to get a better cost structure and competitiveness. An optimisation of the whole cost situation at retail banks by the use of industrial process reengineering is the key to success. In order to be able to offer competitive conditions to the customers, a restructuring of the business processes at banks has to be made. The problems, which have been identified at processes of retail banks, are missing process standards, process instability, long process duration and an inefficient support of the business processes by the IT. To improve the situation at retail banks, the industrial methods of business process reengineering and quality management are adopted to the needs of banks.     «
