- BbCRASP-1 is the dominant factor H and FHL-1 binding protein of Lyme disease spirochetes and is suggested to contribute to the persistence of the pathogen in mammals. Here, we show that serum samples from patients with Lyme disease contain antibodies generated to BbCRASP-1 that are exclusively directed to non-denatured structural determinants but not to denatured protein.
