Anhand des “Musical Sounds in Cochlear Implants” (Mu.S.I.C.) Tests wurde die Musikhörfähigkeit von 13 Patienten mit elektroakustischer Stimulation (EAS) untersucht und mit zwei Kontrollgruppen, konventionell unilateral implantierte CI-Träger (CI) und Normalhörende (NH), verglichen. Bei der Rhythmuswahrnehmung, Klangunterscheidung und emotionalen Beurteilung fanden sich keine signifikanten Unterschiede zwischen den Gruppen. Bei der Frequenzunterscheidung waren die EAS-Teilnehmer signifikant besser als die CI-Gruppe und nicht signifikant schlechter als die Normalhörenden. Bei den Timbre-basierten Aufgabenstellungen (Instrumentenidentifikation und -detektion) schnitten die EAS-Patienten hingegen ähnlich ab wie die konventionell implantierten CI-Träger und signifikant schlechter als die Normalhörenden. Ohne Hörgerät verschlechterten sich die Ergebnisse der EAS-Teilnehmer nur unwesentlich.     «

Using the Musical Sounds in Cochlear Implants (Mu.S.I.C.) Test this study examined music perception abilities of 13 electric acoustic stimulation (EAS) users and compared results with two control groups, conventional unilateral cochlear implant users (CI) and normal hearing listeners (NH). No significant difference was found on Rhythm Perception, Chord Discrimination and Emotion Rating between groups. On Frequency Discrimination EAS participants scored significantly better than the CI group and not significantly worse than the normal hearing participants. However, on timbre based tasks (Instrument Identification and Detection) EAS users performed similarly to the conventional cochlear implant users and significantly worse than the NH participants. Results of EAS participants were not significantly worse when the hearing aid was removed.      «
