The research conducted in this thesis investigated the response of mitochondria to targeted irradiation using charged ions. To understand the inherent mitochondrial response to radiation, live cell imaging of mitochondria in tumor cells was performed during targeted microbeam irradiation at the microbeam facility SNAKE. Membrane potential, membrane integrity and production of superoxide was analysed. The results show that individual mitochondria can be targeted and analysed in real time to enable a better understanding of mitochondrial response to stress.     «

Diese Dissertation untersucht die Reaktion von Mitochondrien auf gezielte Ionen Bestrahlung. Mitochondrien wurden dafür mit live cell Imaging in Tumorzellen während der Ziel Bestrahlung an der mikrostrahl anlange SNAKE analysiert. Die untersuchten Eigenschaften der Mitochondrien waren, membranpotential, Membran Integrität und Superoxide Produktion. Die Resultate zeigten das individuelle Mitochondrien in Zellen bestrahlt werden können und das diese Art der Bestrahlung einen neue Methode ist die Reaktion der Mitochondrien auf stress zu untersuchen.     «
