One of the most sophisticated challenges in the development and optimisation of biotechnological production processes is the efficient extraction of relevant process data. By advancing the design of a magnetic-inductively driven stirred-tank bioreactor system on a millilitre-scale and the application of an optical sensor technology for the measurement of pH and dissolved oxygen, an individual pH-control of 48 parallel bioreactors was achieved. This tool for parallel bioprocess development under controlled technical conditions was validated with exemplary processes making use of Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
