Die Magnet-Resonanz-Tomographie (MRT) besitzt bei der Beurteilung von Gelenkveränderungen im Rahmen der Rheumatoiden Arthritis (RA) einen hohen Stellenwert. Die Aussagekraft der Untersuchungen können durch die Verwendung von Kontrastmitteln deutlich erhöht werden. Die vorliegende Arbeit zeigt, dass die neue Gruppe der Eisenoxid-Kontrastmittel (USPIOs) sowohl die Erkennung einer Synovialitis als auch die Charakterisierung der Entzündung nach Kontrastmittelgabe ermöglichen. Alle drei verwendeten USPIOs, SHU555C, Ferumoxtran-10 und Ferumoxytol, die sich momentan in Phase III der klinischen Prüfung befinden, können gleichermaßen mit dieser Indikation verwendet werden.     «

Magnet resonance imaging (MRI) plays an important role in the evaluation of joint processes occuring during rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Specifity and sensitivity of this examination can be considerably increased by application of contrast media. This work shows that the new group of iron oxide contrast agents (USPIOs) allow detection as well as characterization of synovialitis after intravenous injection. All three USPIOs studied in this work, SHU555C, Ferumoxtran-10 and Ferumoxytol, which are currently in phase III of clinical evaluation, can be used equally with this indication.     «
