Lippen-Kiefer-Gaumenspalten sind die häufigsten Fehlbildungen im Gesichtsbereich. Die Inzidenz ist steigend und liegt derzeit bei etwa 1:450 Geburten. Lippen-Kiefer-Gaumen-(LKG) und Gaumen(G)-Spalten sind zwei verschiedenen Entitäten. Bei 13,6 % der Kinder war die Spalte Symptom eines übergeordneten Syndroms. Translated abstract:
Cleft lip and palate is the most common anomaly of the face. The incidence is still growing and is at the moment 1 of 450 births. Cleft lip and cleft palate are two different entities. In 13.6% of the children the cleft was a symptom of a superordinated syndrome. In children with an isolated cleft there were associated anomalies in 21.3%. The most common associated anomalies were these of the face. It is necessary to examinate all children with clefts very thoroughly.
