The force and energy management of dynamic soaring in a path-related and an airspeed related reference frame is dealt with. It is shown how the energy gain from the wind is accomplished in regard to both reference frames. For this purpose, appropriate mathematical relationships based on the equations of motion holding for each reference frame are developed. As a representative case for dynamic soaring, the problem of minimum wind strength required for this flight mode is treated and optimization result are presented. It is shown that there is equality of energy harvesting in terms of the energy gain from the wind, to the effect that the force and energy management in both reference frames is equivalent.     «
