Within only a few decades, computer technology has evolved from an emerging science to a key driving factor in virtually all areas of research and engineering. The digitization and virtualization of procedures, methods and systems enables efficiency gains beyond the limitations of the physical world. So far, neuroscience has been largely excluded from this development due to a lack of appropriate tools and techniques. Today, neurorobotics opens up a new perspective for the virtualization of neuroscience.
