Abstract:

As part of their defence strategy, Brassicaceae produce a variety of bioactive secondary metabolites. The biosynthesis of the phytoalexin camalexin is strongly interconnected with the synthesis of other indolics. Metabolic analysis of multiple mutants that were generated applying targeted genome editing techniques elucidates the role of one aldehyde oxidase and several cytochromes P450, including CYP71B6 and the homologues CYP71A12 and CYP71A13, in this network.
